PICKERINGTON, Ohio (May 20, 2022) — Kenda Tire will return as the Official Tire of 2022 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days presented by Royal Enfield, which takes place July 22-24 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.
“It’s about an hour drive up to Mid-Ohio for our Kenda crew,” said Kenda’s Director of Powersports Dave Komoroski. “Either it gets shorter every year, or we’re just driving faster. VMD is something totally unique to our industry, and Kenda is proud to be the Official Tire of the 30th running of AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days.”
The Kenda Kids’ area will be returning as well, noted Komoroski, but Kenda plans to make it even better than ever this year.
“Kids are the future of our sport,” Komoroski said, “and we’re looking forward to offering a competitive, interactive experience for them that I don’t think anyone’s ever seen before. STACYC and YCF/Piranha really make this thing come to life. They’ve been excellent to work with, and we’re pumped to have them by our side. We’re definitely expecting some crowds around the infield this year. There are few things more excited than a head-to-head shootout.”
“The Kenda crew’s enthusiasm for the event makes it extra exciting to have them on board as a partner,” says AMA Editorial Director Mitch Boehm. “We’re thrilled to welcome them — and the Kenda Kids’ area — back to AMA VMD this year. Their excitement for the event is catchy, and with the many kids that attend the event each year, the Kenda Kids’ area is bound to be a hit.”
2022 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days presented by Royal Enfield will feature AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer and 500cc World Champ Kevin Schwantz as Grand Marshal, who’ll be on hand to sign autographs, speak to enthusiasts from the AMA Soundstage, and participate in a Lap For History each day. A special highlight will be an exclusive showing of Schwantz’s 1985 Yoshimura-Suzuki AMA Superbike, which launched his legendary career.
The three-day event will also include all the vintage-oriented happenings classic-bike fans love, including Hall of Fame activities, the biggest motorcycle swap meet in North America, complete with parts and bikes and memorabilia from the past 120 years of motorcycling, and vintage road and off-road racing.
“Kenda’s whole powersports engineering division is already registered for the races and will be camped down in the bottoms,” Komoroski added. “It’s important that we take some time to remember why we work in this industry of ours. AMA really puts on one hell of an event … we wouldn’t miss it.”
