Landspeed Record

Landspeed trials are about one thing and one thing only: going faster than anyone on two wheels has ever gone before.

The  AMA Land Speed Grand Championship, also known as the Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials, is the premier motorcycle land-speed racing event in the world. Held on the iconic Bonneville Salt Flats, a 40-square-mile expanse of dried saltwater located just outside of Wendover, Utah, the Bonneville Speed Trials are where you will find the fastest motorcycles.

The AMA-sanctioned event — which also includes Fédération Internationale de Motocylisme recognition — offers competitors the opportunity to capture AMA national and FIM world speed records aboard machines ranging from 50cc minibikes to purpose-built streamliners displacing up to 3,000cc — the latter capable of speeds of nearly 400 mph!

Competition classes are determined by engine displacement, engine and chassis modifications, and various degrees of streamlining. Competitors range from weekend enthusiasts to professional race teams fielding multi-million-dollar engineering masterworks.
