North Carolina rider clinches AMA National No. 1 plate

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The American Motorcyclist Association congratulates Kyle Peters on winning the overall title in the 2020 Kicker AMA Arenacross National Championship, presented by Lucas Oil.

The Honda rider from Greensboro, N.C., clinched the championship Feb. 29 in the second of two rounds in Salt Lake City, Utah. He scored podium finishes in both 250 Pro Sport Class and both 450 Pro Sport Class main events. Peters ended the season March 7 with a 47-point lead (543 to 496) over Kawasaki rider Kyle Bitterman.

“Kyle Peters has had a truly remarkable season, and we congratulate him on winning the Kicker AMA Arenacross, presented by Lucas Oil title, the first AMA Arenacross National Championship awarded as part of this series,” AMA Motocross Manager Mike Burkeen said. “Kyle’s relentlessness and consistency have earned him an AMA National No. 1 plate, and we look forward to seeing Kyle defend his title in next year’s championship.”

Peters delivered a dominant performance in this year’s AMA Arenacross series. He placed first in 13 of 24 450 Pro Sport and 250 Pro Sport main events and did not finish off the podium in any race he contested.
