Recreational Riding Commissions

To establish best practices for event organizers and riders, address common concerns and promote advocacy, the American Motorcyclist Association has formed two separate volunteer Recreational Riding Commissions: A Road Riding Commission and an Off-Road Commission.

Recreational Riding Commissions are volunteer bodies that discuss ways to enhance and promote recreational riding events sanctioned by the AMA. Association members who would like to participate in the discussion about ways to enhance or promote recreational riding events across America are encouraged to apply to serve on an AMA Recreational Riding Commission.

Becoming a Recreational Riding Commission Member

AMA Recreational Riding Commission appointees must have an active AMA membership and be in good standing throughout their appointment. Each appointee shall serve a one-year term beginning in January.

Applications must be submitted by November 30 for the term beginning the following January. Appointees may serve multiple terms. AMA Recreational Riding Commissions are the volunteer bodies that discuss ways to enhance and promote recreational riding events sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association.
