Pendley gets BLM nod

President chooses deputy director

President Donald J. Trump announced in June that he intends to nominate William Perry Pendley to be the director of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.

Pendley currently serves as the BLM deputy director for policy and programs and has worked to increase recreational opportunities on and access to public lands, heighten concern for the impact of wild horses and burros on public lands and increase awareness of the BLM’s multiple-use mission, a White House press release said.

Pendley was president of Mountain States Legal Foundation for 30 years and practiced law in the Washington, D.C. area. He also served in the Reagan administration as Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Energy and Minerals and was an attorney to U.S. Sen. Clifford Hansen of Wyoming.
