Back in January, the AMA announced its 2021 Racing and Organizer Awards, which are presented to individuals and organizations that stand out in AMA-sanctioned competition and recreational endeavors. The AMA recognized MotoAmerica as Track Racing Organizer of the Year, and Roadracing World & Motorcycle Technology with the AMA Media Award.

On March 12 at the MotoAmerica weekend at the Daytona International Speedway — which included the Daytona 200, the opening round of the 2022 MotoAmerica Mission King Of The Baggers Championship, Roland Sands Super Hooligans and Twins Cup — AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman presented MotoAmerica and Roadracing World & Motorcycle Technology with their AMA awards.

“MotoAmerica has been critical in helping to grow the sport at the grassroots level,” Dingman said while presenting the Track Racing Organizer of the Year to MotoAmerica, “and they’re doing such a great job with the Pro series, I think it’s also important to recognize their efforts to grow the grassroots as well.”

“I want to thank Rob Dingman and the AMA for giving us this opportunity,” said MotoAmerica President Wayne Rainey after the award presentation, “and we look forward to the next time we get this award.”

For its outstanding coverage of motorcycle competition and industry, Dingman also presented the AMA Media Award to Roadracing World & Motorcycle Technology Founder and Editor-in-Chief John Ulrich at the event.

“The AMA has come a long way in the last couple of decades,” said Roadracing World & Motorcycle Technology Founder and Editor John Ulrich, “and that makes covering our sport a lot easier. Same with MotoAmerica, and the AMA had a big part to play in that. When races are run well, as they are with Wayne Rainey’s group, it makes covering them easier and a lot more enjoyable. What has kept me engaged with the AMA, and I’m a Life Member, is the great work the organization does on the government relations front, and of course all its racing involvement, too. It really comes down to this: We accurately covered what the AMA is doing, and if that leads to an award, we’ll take it.”
