Saturday was all about breaking ties for Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Eli Tomac, who tallied his seventh win of the season to stand alone atop the 450SX standings.

While the win at the Glendale AMA Supercross round was significant for Tomac’s 2023 title chase, it also marked the 51st 450SX win of his career, which surpassed AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer James Stewart for second most all time. The Triple Crown event in the desert also served as a breakthrough for Team Honda HRC’S Jett Lawrence, who rode a 1-3-1 performance to his first overall win in the format.

Tomac entered Round 12 of the AMA Supercross season deadlocked with Red Bull KTM’s Cooper Webb, who carried a seven-round podium streak into a packed State Farm Stadium on Saturday. However, an overall first for Tomac (1-2-1) and a missed podium for Webb (2-5-4) gives Tomac 7 points of breathing room with five events remaining.

Team Honda HRC’s Chase Sexton (4-1-3) and Troy Lee Designs Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s Justin Barcia (3-6-2) rounded out the 450SX podium.

In the 250SX West Triple Crown event, Lawrence (1-3-1) edged Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s RJ Hampshire (2-1-3) to take the round and extend his 250SX standings lead to 26 points.

The action moves back east for a daytime race in Atlanta on Saturday.
