PICKERINGTON, Ohio (Oct. 5, 2026) — The United States has won the FIM Enduro Vintage Trophy (EVT) for the first time. The American trio of Fred Hoess (Husqvarna), Billy Burns (Can-Am) and AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Terry Cunningham (Husqvarna) took the Vintage Veterans Trophy at the tenth running of the event in Zschopau, Germany.
Team USA entered the fourth and final day as the favorite and held on through the Final Cross Test. Austria finished second, and Italy took third after strong rides on Days Three and Four. Outgoing champion Germany was fourth on home soil, and the Czech Republic was fifth. The FIM Enduro Vintage Trophy brings national teams together to race vintage enduro machines in a multi-day test of endurance, skill and preparation.
“This is a proud moment for American motorcycling,” said AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman. “Fred, Billy and Terry have given the United States its first-ever win at the FIM Enduro Vintage Trophy, and they did it against the best vintage riders in the world. Their win shows what’s possible when passion, preparation and a love for these machines come together. On behalf of the AMA and our members, congratulations to the entire team.”
Hoess also won the Final Cross Test in the Vintage Veterans Trophy individual classification. He finished ahead of Bernhard Walzer (KTM) of Austria and Italy’s Tullio Pellegrinelli (Puch-Frigerio).
“It’s been an incredible week,” said Hoess. “We’ve really come together as a team to get this result. Thank you to everyone for the support. Overall, it’s been a brilliant, but tough, event. They say Zschopau is the motorcycle city, and definitely, it’s been a spectacular place to race!”
In the other EVT classes, Italy took the Vintage Silver Vase with Stefano Bosco (Kramer), Federico Fregnan (Fantic Motor) and Giuseppe Gallino (Puch). Italy’s Tagliamento 1 won the Vintage Club Team class. Pavel Koncicky (KTM) of the Czech Republic topped the Vintage Individual standings on the final day.
