Second AMA Ice Race Grand Championship event postponed

Ice grand prix event rescheduled for Feb. 16

The 2020 AMA Ice Race Grand Championship event scheduled to take place Jan. 19 has been postponed to Feb. 16 due to unfavorable ice conditions. Also known as the Steel Shoe Fund Three-Hour Endurance Race, the event takes place on Kettle Moraine Lake in Campbellsport, Wis.

“Unfortunately, weather conditions have made it impossible for the Steel Shoe endurance race to take place,” AMA Track Racing Manager Ken Saillant said. “We’re looking forward to seeing the nation’s best ice racers gather in Campbellsport on the event’s new date.”

The postponed event features an ice grand prix format, in which racers making left and right turns as they navigate a road racing-style course layout.

A new date for the oval racing 2020 Ice Race Grand Championship event that was scheduled to take place Jan. 12 in Milwaukee, Wis., will be announced shortly.
