Motorcycle films to watch, Part II

Are you tired of sitting down in front of the TV and watching football and basketball reruns, dire news reports and old war movies?

Cheer up! We have some great motorcycle movie and documentary suggestions for you.

You should be able to find these on streaming services such as Amazon Prime, Hulu, Netflix, Vudu or YouTube to watch on your smart TV or computer.

First up, “Dust 2 Glory” (2017) (photo above). This documentary was directed by Dana Brown, the son of AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Bruce Brown (creator of the iconic motorcycling movie “On Any Sunday”). The film follows the racing and drama of the legendary SCORE Baja 1000 desert race. The film is the sequel to Dana Brown’s earlier “Dust to Glory” documentary. “Dust to Glory” (2005) conveys the excitement surrounding racing in the SCORE Baja 1000. “The Wild One” (1953). Starring Marlon Brando and Lee Marvin, this is the movie that made Hollywood decide to make a whole lot of motorcycle gang movies. “On Any Sunday” (1971). Produced by AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Bruce Brown, this documentary stars, among others, AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famers Mert Lawwill and Malcolm Smith. The film documents the 1970 season of AMA Grand National racing by following defending champion Lawwill. This movie conveys the fun and enjoyment that motorcycling adds to people’s lives, and helped spur the explosive growth of motorcycling in the 1970s. “On Any Sunday: The Next Chapter (2014). Filmmaker Dana Brown follows up on his famous father Bruce Brown’s 1971 film “On Any Sunday” with this documentary. “On Any Sunday: The Next Chapter” explores the fun of motorcycling and the intensity of racing. Some of the stars include Bo Derek, Travis Pastrana, Ashley Fiolek, Roland Sands and AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famers Ricky Johnson, Randy Mamola and Wayne Rainey. “Desert Camera” (2017). The Dakar desert race was moved out of Africa many years ago so the Africa Eco Race was created to take its place. This film documents the 4,000-mile desert race in the north of Africa in 2017. It’s a great look at an African motorcycling and dune buggy adventure.
