Monster Energy Cup marks SoCal Debut this fall

10th edition of Supercross’ million-dollar all-star race to take place Oct. 10 at Dignity Health Sports Park

The following is an industry press release …

The Monster Energy Cup–Supercross’ ultimate million dollar all-star race–moves to Southern California’s Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif., for the 10th edition of the event. Previously held in Las Vegas since 2011, this year’ MEC takes place on Oct. 10, 2020.

After two action-packed racing weekends at Angel Stadium of Anaheim launching the 2020 AMA Supercross Championship in January, SoCal Supercross fan will get an extra adrenaline racing experience to become part of the most anticipated invitation-only races of the year! After competing in the 17-round AMA Supercross racing season, the world’s top two-wheeled athletes return to action for a shot at the off-season prize of the largest purse in motorcycle racing.

The Monster Energy Cup is an annual showcase of the world’s top Supercross athletes in a one-night-only head-to-head battle for the coveted Monster Energy Cup trophy and the shot at winning $1 million. The Monster Energy Cup challenges racers in their fight for victory with three, 10-lap main events on a custom-designed track, inspired by five-time Monster Energy Supercross Champion Ricky Carmichael. The Monster Energy Cup posts a $250,000 purse, with the winner guaranteed to walk away with a $100,000 check. Any rider who wins all three main events  take home $1 million.

Unlike any other races, the Monster Energy Cup’s unique format gives the sport’s biggest names a chance to battle it out for the Monster Million, which has only been achieved three times since the event’s inception. It was last won in 2018 by Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac. Last year in 2019, Adam Cianciarulo grabbed the trophy to win $100,000 in his 450SX Class rookie debut.

The event is to be held at the Digital Health Sports Park complex (formerly the StubHub Center), which is on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH). The Monster Energy Cup will be turning the home field of the LA Galaxy, Major League Soccer’s five-time champions, into a man-made dirt battleground with over 1.5 million pounds of dirt covering the soccer field for this epic all-day racing event. The racing is seen by many racers, teams and fans and allows teams to try new bikes, riders and bike set-ups in a high stress environment, yet throws enough unique elements to challenge riders and machines in new ways.

Fans can enjoy a full day of entertainment at the Monster Energy Cup FanFest from noon–6 p.m., including rider autograph sessions, live music and additional interactive experiences. FanFest passes are $20 each and can be purchased in advance through www.axs.com. Fans also can get free access by recycling an empty can of Monster Energy. At the same time, inside the stadium, riders will be sharpening their skills during practice and qualifying for their starting gate position.
