Honda unveils 2020 Africa Twin at AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — American Honda unveiled two new 2020 models at the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

The introduction took place during the week of the American International Motorcycle Expo presented by Nationwide, which is Sept. 26-29 at the nearby Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio.

The Africa twin lineup is Honda’s entry in the fast-growing adventure motorcycle segment. It includes the Honda Africa Twin CRF1100 and the Honda Africa Twin CRF1100 Adventure Sports ES.

Honda says the new bikes are lighter, have more power and boast significantly more technology than the 2019 and earlier Africa Twins. Both trim levels include a large touchscreen information center that gives the rider control over a number of performance characteristics as well as display options.

The CRF1000L Africa Twin was introduced in 2016, bringing back a model that was popular in the 1980s. More than 87,000 Africa Twins have been sold worldwide since 2016. The 2020 model, the CRF1100L, is the first major change to this generation of the bike.
