Honda Offering the Honda Trail 125 for 2021

If you’re an older rider you may have gotten your off-road riding start on a Honda CT step-through trail bike. Well, Honda is bringing back that machine with its all-new 2021 Honda Trail 125 ABS (CT125).

The bike “resurrects a revered brand by injecting a healthy dose of practical design and hassle-free technology to create a miniMOTO that, much like the Super Cub and Monkey, pays tribute to the past while adapting easily to modern lifestyles,” Honda said.

The 2021 Honda Trail 125 ABS (CT125) is based on the modern Super Cub C125 released a couple years ago that continues today. The original Super Cub is best remembered from the 1960s advertising campaign: “You meet the nicest people on a Honda.”

Honda says urban riders were the intended target for the Super Cub C125 when it was introduced in 2019. The Trail 125 not only work in an urban setting but in rural areas, and on two-tracks and trails.

“This was accomplished by strengthening the chassis, increasing suspension travel, improving range and updating the electronics for virtually maintenance-free operation,” Honda says.

The new bike is powered by a 125cc four-stroke, single-cylinder overhead-camshaft two-valve engine. The bike has a high-mounted air intake and upswept exhaust that Honda says enhances low-end and mid-range power.

The Trail 125 has a four-speed semiautomatic transmission. An engine guard adds protection from obstacles.

“When American Honda was established in 1959 and began offering the Honda 50, Idaho dealer Herb Uhl started modifying it for off-road use, resulting in Honda producing the Trail 50,” says Lee Edmunds, senior manager of powersports marketing for American Honda. “That model became ubiquitous in American campgrounds and on motorhome bumpers in the ’60s and ’70s and led to a number of successors. For that reason, the CT brand has a special history with the U.S. market, and it’s great to see it return with the Trail 125 which, like the Super Cub and Monkey, harkens back to a golden era of American motorcycling but with modern technology and reliability.”

The 2021 Honda Trail 125 is set to be available in November. Color: Glowing Red. MSRP: $3,899.
