Since the AMA was established in 1924, sanctioning motorcycle racing has been a core function, with the organization now one of the largest amateur motorsports sanctioning bodies in the world.

Motocross
Motocross — including Arenacross and Supercross — is the most popular form of motorcycle racing in the United States. The AMA sanctions motocross events for everyone from beginners to pros, held on dedicated tracks that are either indoor or outdoor.
Off Road Racing
In addition to motocross, which primarily takes place on man-made tracks, the AMA also sanctions a wide variety of natural-terrain off-road racing events, including enduros, extreme enduros, hare scrambles, hill climbs, observed trials and more.
