The tragic news that motorsports photographer Andrew Wheeler passed away came out on Jan. 6. Only 60 years old, the British expat who resided in Texas passed away after spending several months suffering the effects of a mini stroke he had while covering MotoGP races last year.

For more than 15 years, Wheeler photographed MotoGP races across the world for various media outlets, including the American Motorcyclist Association. He was highly regarded as one of the best.

Even if his name doesn’t sound familiar — though he did write for American Motorcyclist in the past — there’s little doubt that most motorsports enthusiasts have seen his world-class MotoGP photography.

We’re saddened at the loss of Wheeler, and we’re paying tribute to his memory by sharing some of his remarkable photos.
