Faqs
Downloading a Family Member’s Digital Membership Card
Do you manage multiple AMA memberships under the same email address? If you are trying to download a digital membership card for a family member, each membership must have its own unique email address.
This is especially common when a parent manages memberships for younger children or other family members.
Does your family member share your email address?
Before you can download their digital membership card, the email address on their membership needs to be unique.
You can update the family member’s email address in either of these ways:
Option 1: Update the email online
- Sign in to the AMA Membership Portal.
- Locate the family member’s membership.
- Update the email address associated with their membership to a unique email address.
- Save your changes.
- Return to the Digital Membership Card page.
- Enter the updated email address to access and download their digital membership card.
Option 2: Contact the AMA Call Center
If you prefer, you can contact the AMA Call Center and ask a representative to update the email address associated with your family member’s membership.
Once the email address has been updated, return to the Digital Membership Card page and use the new email address to access their card.
Why does each family member need a unique email address?
The digital membership card system uses the email address associated with an individual membership to identify and provide access to that member’s card. When multiple memberships share the same email address, we cannot reliably determine which family member’s card should be provided.
Giving each family member a unique email address allows each person to access their own digital membership card.
Have more than one family member? Repeat these steps for each membership that needs its own digital card.
Claim: Injured motorcyclists are uninsured and disproportionately rely upon the public to pay for their injuries.
Response: Motorcyclists are just as likely to be privately insured as any other road user.
A medical center study1 reported that injured motorcyclists in the trauma center relied on public funds a lower percentage of the time than did automobile drivers to pay their hospital bills during the same time period.
A university study2 reported that automobile drivers and motorcyclists have their medical costs covered by insurance at a nearly identical rate.
Conclusion: Injured motorcyclists are less likely than the general population to use public funds to pay for injuries sustained in crashes, and no more likely to be uninsured than other vehicle operators.
