American Motorcyclist Association supports decision to postpone FIM International Six Days Enduro

95th edition of world’s premier off-road competition rescheduled for 2021

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The American Motorcyclist Association supports the March 28 decision of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme to postpone the 2020 FIM International Six Days Enduro due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 95th edition of the annual off-road motorcycle competition had been scheduled to take place in Rivanazzano Terme, Italy, Aug. 31-Sept. 5.

Also postponed is the FIM Enduro Vintage Trophy competition, which takes place at the same venue as the ISDE. Both events have been postponed for a year, with the ISDE now scheduled for Aug. 30-Sept. 4, 2021, and the EVT scheduled for Sept. 2-4, 2021.

“Due to the uncertainty created by the coronavirus pandemic, the FIM’s decision to postpone the 2020 ISDE is the responsible thing to do,” AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman said. “The ISDE is one of the most challenging and spectacular motorcycle competitions in the world, but it takes teams months to plan and prepare for getting personnel and equipment to the event’s host city. The uncertainty over international travel created by this pandemic has made that planning process practically impossible.

“The AMA extends its sincerest wishes for the rapid recovery of the people of Italy, who have been among the hardest hit by this crisis,” Dingman said. “We look forward to seeing our U.S. ISDE teams defend the three titles they won in 2019 at the 2021 event in Italy.”

The U.S. ISDE Team claimed the World Trophy, Women’s World Trophy and Club division titles at the 2019 ISDE in Portimao, Portugal, and finished runner up in the Junior World Trophy Class.

The International Six Days Enduro is the most prestigious off-road motorcycle event in the world. First held in Carlisle, England, in 1913, the ISDE is one of the longest-running events on the FIM calendar.
