AMA Road Race Grand Championship to Run Oct. 21-23

AMA amateur road racing championship to be hosted by Barber Motorsports Park

PICKERINGTON, Ohio (Oct. 12, 2022) — The AMA Road Race Grand Championship takes place at Barber Motorsports Park, Oct. 21-23, 2022.

Promoted by WERA Motorcycle Roadracing, the event is the official U.S. amateur road racing championship, sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association.

“The AMA Road Race Grand Championship is running in conjunction with WERA’s 50th annual Grand National Finals,” said AMA Road Racing Manager Ken Saillant, “and we’re pleased to be a part of the celebration this year as the country’s best amateur road racers compete for No. 1 plates and AMA awards.”

Along with AMA National Championship No. 1 plates, three AMA Awards will be distributed: the Nicky Hayden AMA Road Race Horizon Award, AMA Vet/Senior Road Racer of the Year, and AMA Amateur Road Racer of the Year.

The Horizon Award was named in honor of the first racer to claim it: AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Nicky Hayden. The honor is given to the rider that is best prepared for the professional ranks, based on attitude, enthusiasm and past performance.

Online entry is available until Oct. 17 for riders with a valid WERA License. If you are running in the AMA Road Race Grand Championship Classes and need a WERA ID please email: wera@wera.com.
