Legendary Baja racers Johnny Campbell and Scot Harden have partnered up to host the Handstands at 100 mph event at the Doffo Winery in Temecula, Calif., on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021.
The event will celebrate the heritage and legacy of the Desert Motorcycle Racing Fraternity and will bring together the largest gathering of desert racing motorcycle champions ever assembled, the group said in a press release.
The event will include historic motorcycle displays, autograph sessions, food, drink and will close with a private screening of the 50th anniversary edition of On Any Sunday. In addition, there will be a 90-mile optional Dual Sport riding event prior to the festivities to allow riders to connect.
“Johnny and I have been talking about doing something special for the Baja/Desert Racing motorcycle community for some time,” said Scot Harden. “We want to honor the legacy and the heritage of the sport we love so much, bring together our friends and colleagues, and hopefully inspire the next generation of racers to pursue their own dreams and adventures through this type of racing. We already have a long list of former champions and legends committed to attending the event, as well as some of the bikes that made history-winning events like the Baja 1000, BITD, and other major off-road events. We felt the time was right.”
Johnny Campbell explained that the event is to commemorate the people that have — for decades — been dedicated to the success and health of the sport.
“We are specifically targeting SCORE/BITD/NORRA/HDRA, D-37, D-38, MRAN, ADRA racers, and the Clubs that have supported [racers] over the years, their friends, and families. We invite them all to come out and join us for an afternoon of bench racing, camaraderie, and good times. We have the awesome Doffo Winery to ourselves, some really cool motorcycles, and will cap the day off with a private viewing of the remastered On Any Sunday,” he said.
