Long-time insurance provider to connect with motorcyclists and celebrate motorcycling at Mid-Ohio
PICKERINGTON, Ohio (June 29, 2021) — GEICO, an insurance company established in 1938, was recently announced as the Official Insurance Company of the 2021 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, which takes place July 23-25 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.
“GEICO is excited to sponsor AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days,” said Bill Brower, GEICO’s Assistant Vice President of Marketing.
Established in 1936 by Leo and Lillian Goodwin as the Government Employees Insurance Company, the company that’s more commonly known as GEICO was a direct-to-consumer insurance provider focused on military and federal employees. Despite its humble beginnings amid the Great Depression, GEICO has grown to the second-largest auto insurer in the U.S., insuring more than 28 million vehicles in all 50 states and the District of Columbia and provides additional coverage for motorcycles, ATV, RV, and boat insurance.
“Motorcycling is more than a passion,” Brower said, “it is a lifestyle that connects people through a shared history. GEICO Motorcycle has shared in that history ever since it first participated in AMA racing. Through AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, we are delighted to celebrate the grassroots of the motorcycling community while protecting everyone’s adventure in motorcycling.”
“It’s really great to have GEICO’s support behind our 2021 Vintage Motorcycle Days event,” said AMA Editorial Director Mitch Boehm. “The event attracts some of the most committed motorcycle enthusiasts in the country, and that’s something the GEICO folks surely recognize. They’ve been supporting motorcyclists for a long, long time, so this makes perfect sense, and seems like a perfect fit.”
The 2021 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days will feature an On Any Sunday theme, celebrating 50 years of the moto documentary, with David Aldana — one of the film’s legendary stars — serving as Grand Marshal. There will also be a special outdoor screening of the beloved film on Friday, July 23.
There’s plenty of racing action for racers and fans, from road racing and motocross to cross-country, dirt track and trials — and much of it with an AMA Grand Championship flavor. Riders as young as age 4 are permitted to compete in motocross, while those 12 and up can ride in trials, dirt track and hare-scrambles events. There’s also exhibition pit-bike racing on Saturday. Learn more and register today.
The event will also include all the vintage-oriented happenings that classic-bike fans love, including Hall of Fame activities, vintage bike shows and the legendary swap meet. Tickets are still available at midohio.com.
