The AMA EnduroCross Series returned to action Saturday, Sept. 17, and five-time AMA EnduroCross Champion Taddy Blazusiak wasted no time avenging his lost 2021 season by taking Round 1 in Salt Lake City.
GASGAS Factory Racing’s Blazusiak, who was nearly flawless finishing 1-2-1 in the three main events, missed the 2021 season with an injury. He showed no signs of rust, however, as he delivered GASGAS Factory Racing their first EnduroCross Pro win.
“Perfect start to the EnduroCross Championship — both for me and the GASGAS USA crew,” Blazusiak said. “I believe it’s a first EX win for them so I’m super happy I could bring that first W for the team and that red GASGAS is going to look good with red plate next week! We worked hard on the bike set up through practice and we got it super good for the night show. I set the fastest time in the hot laps, so P1 at the gate, plus really good starts all night helped get the job done. We had solid speed all night long and I can’t wait for Round 2 next weekend!”
Blazusiak won the day and tallied 30 points aboard the EX 350F, which will carry the red numberplate in the next round of racing.
KTM’s Trystan Hart finished 2-1-2 to claim second overall and 25 points in the standings. Fellow KTM rider Blake Gutzeit rounded out the podium with 4-5-5 finishes.
The series resumes for Round 2 on Saturday, Sept. 24, in Redmond, Ore.
