FIM logoThe AMA is the sole U.S. affiliate to the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), the world-wide motorcycle sanctioning body based in Geneva, Switzerland. The FIM establishes and enforces competition rules and calendars for all types of international competition, ranging from motocross and road racing to trials and enduros.

As the U.S. affiliate, the AMA organizes U.S. teams that compete in team-based world championship events, such as the Motocross of Nations and the International Six Days Enduro. Racing for their country, these riders compete against the world's best in their discipline.

The AMA also takes the lead on organizing and coordinating World Championship events in the United States, such as rounds of the MotoGP World Championship Series.

For riders with aspirations of success on the international stage, proper license and sanction is necessary. The AMA is responsible for licensing American riders to compete in international events and series. Below are links to the various forms necessary for FIM-sanctioned competition:
