AMA Speedway Rules
AMA-sanctioned events run according to the rules developed and written by AMA Congress, the elected rule-making body that meets annually. Based on the collective wisdom of promoters, clubs, racers, volunteers and AMA staff. Many disciplines and standards were invented by this process, and subsequently codified in the AMA Competition Rulebooks. Indeed, many of these rules have been in place in spirit and practice since the AMA's founding in 1924.
AMA Competition Rulebooks are for the exclusive use of AMA-chartered clubs and promoters running AMA-sanctioned events.
Rulebooks are segmented into two broad ares: the standard rulebook and supplemental rules. The standard rulebook applies to all AMA-sanctioned competition. The supplemental rulebooks include exceptions and additions to the standard rulebook when the particulars of a specific series or location require it. All supplemental rules are approved by the AMA.
The rulebooks listed here are for speedway only. For rules from all AMA-sanctioned disciplines, visit www.americanmotorcyclist.com/racing/rules.
