January 22, 2014
The following is an industry press release...
Los Angeles, Ca: The National Hare and Hound Association kicks off it’s 2014 racing season with round one this weekend! Hosted by Desert MC, round one of the AMA/SRT National Hare and Hound Championship will be one for the record books. With uncertainty over the future of racing in the area due to the impending Marine Base Expansion, the 47th annual “Winter Classic” might be the last time that a National Hare and Hound makes it to the North Eastern parts of Johnson Valley OHV area. This will also be the first National utilizing the new transponder system so don't forget to bring your helmet to sign up!
Kicking things off Saturday morning is the increasingly popular National Youth Hare and Hound Championship. With racers as young as 4 to as old as 15, the series will be creating the champions of the future. With its own bomb run, pits and complete course, it will prepare the kids, AND adults, for racing in the future. The Round 1 Course will be 3 miles long for the Pee Wee's in Race 1 and Micro Mini's and Girls in Race 2 and then it will be extended to 7 miles for the Super Mini's and Jr. Mini's in Race 3. It will include sand, rocks, hills and get even more challenging for the 3rd Race with additional climbs and rock gardens added. Every aspect of the event makes it a true Hare and Hound, only on a smaller scale. This is the perfect place for the kids to make new friends, join in the competition and start off on the right foot in their life long addiction to racing!
National Youth Sign up is open from 8am -10am and Race 1 Banner is up at 11am. Pro/A racers will be dropping the banner for the kids and running sweep and checks. Awards will be presented after all the races are done atop the newly refurbished National Hare and Hound podium. AMA Membership ONLY required. Make sure to have your minor releases in hand or all filled out and notarized before you get there or you will not be able to enter. 2014 AMA and ATVA Annual Release MINOR (1) - For More information regarding Rules and Classes visit - http://nationalhareandhound.com/wp/natoinalyouthhareandhound/
Saturday evening Desert MC is hosting their second annual “Slow Your Roll for Rescue Three” charity event. Be sure to be there early as this is not something to be missed. Staging, the start, and finish lines will all take place on Bessemer Mine Road this weekend, with the alternate (and only) pit approximately 21-miles away off of Camp Rock Road. Keep in mind that CHP is enforcing all speed limits when on the highway, be sure to allow plenty of time to reach your pit when traveling. A truck leaving after the start will not reach the pit soon enough.
