April 12, 2013
The following is an industry press release...
AMA Western Checkpoint Enduro Championship Round 4 - The first trip to Northern California for the 2013 season saw some the the wettest, sloppiest conditions to date with close to 4 inches of rain leading up to the Sawmill Enduro in Lakeport, Ca. The river was high, the ground was slick and the mud packed on.
Moose Racing's Ryan Powell took his 2013 KTM 250XC to the top of the podium, winning by mere seconds over defending series Champion Jordan Brandt. "I haven't really ridden since the last round in November, just been doing lots of moto laps but it really helped today with all the super slippery ruts in all the corners!" Said Powell dripping wet at the finish after 3 miles of river crossings before the end of the last test.
Brandt would have a tough day but would be able to secure 2nd overall... "I dont know how they do this back east. Its so slippery I just do whatever I can not to crash" Finishing in 3rd Nolan Irwin would "wreck" his great day early on. "I was running really good all the way to the third test in the wet rocks" said Irwin showing off his roadrash "I looped out, was backwards and upside down and lost close to 2 minutes just trying to get going again."
Coming in 4th Overall would be Gabe Ellis who would also take the 250 A win and 5th would be Mason Harrison making it 4 past ISDE Medalists in the top 5!!!
